What I’m reading: Drawing People

Illustration book Drawing People by Viktorija Semjonova

Viktorija Semjonova is one of my favorite illustrators, so when I learned about her latest book, Drawing People, I had to get it! I really like that the book is geared towards illustrators and less focused on extreme realism. It is a beautifully designed book with semi thick pages, rounded edges and the printers really captured the texture and expressiveness of her work! I think it makes a great coffee table book when you're not flipping through it.

Drawing People is a playful interactive journal with 100 prompts that teach you how to build your people drawing skills, add color to sketches and develop your own creative style. The various prompt styles would make a great way to make time for an illustration hobby.

If you don't want to draw in the book I recommend using cutting tracing paper to size and using washi tape to hold it in place on the page. This way you can use the illustrated prompts over and over again without marking up the book.
